The delicate greys which surround the color of manmade objects is what gives this painting it's impact. Lane's Cove is a typical, small watermen's cove nestled in an East Gloucester neighbor in the Cape Ann region of Massachusetts. Lobster boats have called it a safe home for generations. The unique, one man lobster boat reminded me of a kiddy ride at an amusement park. That's why I included the pick-up truck back there. It helps give the scene and the boat a sense of scale.
